We are a bunch of residents who live in Levenshulme, Manchester and we wanted to make some improvements to our area. The Four Avenues are:

We are lucky in that at the top of Broom Avenue is Highfield Country Park where there is a pond (ideal for pond dipping), pathways amongst the trees and fields, and a picnic area where people can sit and enjoy the wildlife.

HIGHFIELD COUNTRY PARK

Since forming, in November 2005, we have had some great successes. We applied for and won some funding and with this funding we organised some fun days for everyone. Each fun day was held on Highfield Country Park and was a great success with lots of visitors.

At Easter we had an Easter Egg hunt for the children and the adults could make hanging baskets for their gardens. The children who took part in the Easter Egg hunt received an Easter Egg each. We hope to have asimilar event this year also.

In summer we held a penalty shoot out for the children, there was pond dipping and a circus workshop. There was also a health walk around Highfield Country Park, in fact the fun day was in collaboration with "Healthy Levenshulme", so, there was lots of healthy food to eat too! The winner and runners up of the penalty shoot out won various prizes, such as, footballs, gift tokens and a wonderful trophy.


A jolly time had by all once again over the easter bank holiday recently too-i'll tempt fate now-we always seeem to have great weather!!
